A challenge fee is a bet with positive expected value only if your edge survives the pass rate. Run your numbers before you pay.

Most traders buy challenges on hope. The math is simple: your pass probability times your funded income, minus the fee. If that number is negative, the challenge is entertainment, not investment. Check the firm's verified payout trend before trusting any of these inputs.
Positive EV means the fee is worth paying if your pass-rate guess is honest — most traders overestimate it by 2–3x. The brutal lever is the pass rate: doubling it beats any change in split or fee. And none of this matters if the firm doesn't pay: verify the trend on its firm page first.
